POSITION: Community Participation Supports – Direct Support Professional - The Hopkins Anchor

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

HOUR(S) - ROTATION(S): 70 hours bi-weekly- Weekday, evening and weekend hours.

COMPENSATION: $23.38 - $25.77 / hourly

NATURE OF POSITION:

The Hopkins Anchor provides consistent, on-site support within the day program. This role ensures participant safety, engagement, and stability throughout the day by maintaining a structured, inclusive, and supportive environment. The Anchor serves as the primary in-room staff, promoting effective communication, teamwork, and high-quality care. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday.

Training to provide support in 24-hour care sites will be provided, and if necessary staff may be temporarily assigned to provide support as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will help maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere for all participants while providing assistance with daily routines, activities, and personal goals. This role ensures participant safety and consistently upholds privacy and dignity. The candidate will communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other team members regarding participant needs and program updates, and will support the implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and behavioral strategies as directed. Additionally, the position includes overseeing the cleanliness and organization of the program environment and serving as the consistent, in-room point of contact for both participants and staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

General educational background, usually equivalent to a Grade XII high school education.
A relevant 2-year Community College Diploma, related University Degree or equivalent experience in the field is considered an asset.
Experience in the social services field, preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities is considered an asset.
Police clearance with vulnerable sector screening.
A valid G driver's license and insurable by the agency’s insurance company.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to respond to individual needs and crisis situations in a calm, productive manner.
Well-developed organizational and communication skills are essential.
Experience working with and following Behaviour Support Plans (BSP’s) is considered an asset.
Must be available to work, days, evenings, sleep shifts, weekends, and, must be committed to be available for call in shifts.
