Description

If you are seeking an innovative leadership opportunity with the ability to shape the future of healthcare in Northwestern Ontario, Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) is currently seeking a full-time Unit Manager to join its leadership team.

Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer, the Unit Manager provides effective leadership within the LEADS framework, working collaboratively with the management team to ensure efficient resource utilization and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. This role provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team of professionals and fosters a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement across complex clinical environments.

The Unit Manager is accountable for the leadership and operational oversight of the Emergency Department, the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence (SA/DV) Program, and the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Service. You will lead the Emergency Department in delivering timely, high-quality emergency care within a fast-paced, high-acuity setting, while supporting patient flow, clinical excellence, and staff engagement.

You will also manage and coordinate the comprehensive Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse Care Program, which provides crisis response, medical care, nursing follow-up, and community education in close collaboration with the Emergency Department and community partners. In addition, you will oversee the NP Service, an integrated extension of the Emergency Department, providing patient-centred, non-emergency care through nurse practitioners to improve access, enhance patient flow, and reduce wait times for lower-acuity patients.
