Full-Time Team Leader - Supported Group Living

Position Title: Direct Support Professional  

Compensation: $ 28.51-$ 31.44 / hour

Position: Full-time – Team Leader, Permanent in Supported Group Living - New Location

Nature of Position:

Reporting to the Supported Group Living Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in achieving personal, physical, intellectual, medical, emotional, spiritual, and community inclusion goals. This role involves working in a 24-hour support environment, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts. 

Responsibilities and Duties Include, but are not Limited to:

• Case Management and Team Coordination: Promote team effectiveness, plan and direct daily tasks, provide ongoing feedback, train new team members, and assist in developing annual budgets for individuals.
• Client Service: Facilitate a client-centered approach, advocate for client rights, and support skill development and community inclusion.
• Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene, administer medications, and monitor overall wellness.
• Programming and Daily Living Activities: Implement program activities, support meal planning and preparation, assist with personal finances, and maintain the upkeep of the home.
• Communication: Share information using various formats, provide constructive feedback, and ensure documentation meets regulatory and internal policy requirements.
• Teamwork: Foster a welcoming workplace, participate in team meetings, and share information to promote consistency of care.
• Quality and Standards of Performance: Ensure safety, comply with legislation, participate in professional development, and promote CLGLWL’s vision and mission.
• Relationships: Maintain productive relationships with CLGLWL employees, program participants, volunteers, and students. Collaborate with community resources and advocate for individuals' choices in daily activities.

Required Skills, Education, and Knowledge:

• College or University degree/diploma in Social Services.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• Must meet agency training requirements. (Standard First Aid & Level C CPR & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification)

• Understanding of behavior management techniques and accurate data collection either ABC chart or specific behavior data documentation.

• Knowledge of household management, personal banking, and budgeting.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and insurable by the agency.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a professional appearance.
• Should be creative, take initiative, and be resourceful.
• Must be a self-motivated and responsible person who is able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as be a team player and a role model. 
• Must have experience in individual counselling techniques.
• Must demonstrate the ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office, e-mails, database software (ShareVision), iPads etc.    
• Fluency in French is considered a strong asset.
