CAD Technician

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop production-ready designs by creating 2D AutoCAD layouts, Fusion360 flat patterns, and DXF files from templates.
- Optimize nesting and programming to maximize material utilization, set optimal cut sequences, and configure plasma table amperages.
- Manage quality control by verifying material allocations, reviewing drawings for accuracy, and tracking Mill Test Reports (MTR).
- Coordinate shop floor schedules by grouping jobs by material thickness and grade to ensure peak processing efficiency.
- Troubleshoot shop floor errors by providing real-time technical programming support directly to the plasma cutting operators.
Qualifications:
- Technical education or certification in Drafting, Design, or Mechanical Engineering Technology, with an Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) credential preferred.
- 1–3 years of manufacturing experience in technical drafting, specifically within an industrial fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Fusion360 to create precise 2D layouts, flat patterns, and forming PDFs.
- CNC plasma programming expertise in generating DXF files, G-code, nesting optimization, and bevel adjustments.
- Strong blueprint and technical knowledge including GD&T, Mill Test Reports (MTR), and shop geometry math.
