ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager Financial Services and under the technical direction of the Payroll Coordinator, the Payroll Assistant works closely with other Finance and Human Resources staff to support the payroll system and process for St. Joseph's Care Group.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
Reviews time reports and processes payroll adjustments, including payments for missed time, retroactive payments, pay stubs, and bi-weekly remittances.
Prepares contract settlement payments and other retroactive payments, as required.
Responds to payroll-related inquiries and prepares Employment Insurance audit forms and Records of Employment.
Completes monthly benefit reconciliations, prepares benefit-billing schedules, and enters benefit charges and payments into the payroll/HRIS system.
Tracks preapproved payments and supports Accounts Receivable activities by preparing monthly statements, issuing invoices, reconciling aged trial balances, and following up on outstanding accounts.
Organizes payroll records for secure storage and provides vacation relief for the Payroll Coordinator.
