Purpose of Classification: 

This position is responsible for the improvement and implementation of an asset management strategy to plan for and manage assets throughout the asset lifecycle.  Plans, organizes, directs, and manages utility asset management efforts, including coordination with consultants, vendors, and contractors as well as related regulatory and intergovernmental coordination.  This position will have major coordination efforts to work with positions across the organization including Water Production Director and Plant Managers, Water Reclamation Director and Plant Managers, Engineering Director, General Services Director and Plant Maintenance Staff, Distribution and Conveyance Director, Stormwater Director, Chief Finance Officer, Director of IT, and others to support the effective execution of the strategy. Responsible for evaluation, technical assistance, prioritization, deployment, and analysis of asset optimization solutions, engineering and capital solutions, technology solutions related to asset management, maintenance services and solutions, and related staff training and development.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium level activity which may require some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation as well as work in the field at construction sites. Duties require the ability to use a personal computer, and to operate a motor vehicle. Field duties may involve standing or walking for long periods of time and may be exposed to hot, cold or inclement weather, extreme temperatures and hazardous situations requiring the use of personal protection equipment.  

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of sounds and visual cues or signals.  Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. 

Environmental Factors: Essential functions are performed with frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions including weather, dust, debris, chemicals, and machinery involved in construction as well as water and wastewater treatment, pumping, and pipeline facilities. This position is classified as safety-sensitive.
