Welder-Fitter / General Labour – Structural Steel Docks

Gravenhurst, ON

We are seeking a construction labourer / welder. This is a career position.

Located in the Muskoka area in Gravenhurst, we build the most amazing waterfront steel structural docks and boat houses for the most expensive homes and cottages in Canada.

We are seeking a hardworking construction worker who can think, follow plans, lift, build, deliver and weld. Note welding is 20% of your time.

This is a year-round full time 40 hours per week outdoor job working on the shores of the big Muskoka lakes. We work in the cold, heat, rain and snow.

You must be a rough and tumble construction worker. You will be asked to do every part of the job including lifting material, loading boats and trucks, assembling, tacking and welding metal.

You will be driving many different vehicles including pick ups, flat bed, boats, barges, snowmobiles, large 4-wheel drive forklifts, excavator and other construction equipment. We will assist getting your different licences.

Pay is based on your experience and skills. Range is $32 to $40 per hour

You will be required to complete a one day paid work and welding test as part of the apply process.

You must bring your lunch and drinks daily as there are no stores near our job sites.

MUSTS:

• Hard smart worker. Gets the job done right and quickly.
• You are a problem solver.
• Have reliable transportation to get to work each day to our yard in Gravenhurst
• Must show up each day on time at 7am, ready to go.
• Have minimum basic welding skills or experience. We will continue to train.
• You must be able to swim in case you fall in.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Able to read a tape measure and use small power tools, chainsaw and quick cut saw.
• Able to apply a 2-part epoxy coating on steel and learn how to sandblast steel before coating is applied.

ASSET but not mandatory

• Flat, horizontal and vertical stick CWB welding ticket.
• Experience in erecting structural steel
• Knowledge of hoisting and rigging
