POSITION: HOUSING SUPPORT WORKER
Site: Stratford
Part-time
(Afternoons, Midnights and Weekends)

POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Stratford/Perth Shelterlink collaborative team, the Housing Support Worker provides direct, quality and safe supports to youth experiencing homelessness in accordance with Stratford/Perth Shelterlink’s policies, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.

REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator, Stratford/Perth Shelterlink

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $17.55 hourly

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Services, Social Services, Psychology, Education or equivalent education and asset or work-related experience
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification and First Aid Certificate required

EXPERIENCE:
- Basic counselling, team building, negotiating and mediation skills
- Working knowledge and/or experience with community resources, programs and/or services as related to youth
- Office administration including experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to take charge, think quickly and act appropriately in a crisis situation
- Ability to deal with unresolved situations, frequent change, delays and unexpected events and calm demeanour
- Skilled in organization, planning, creatively able to develop and communicate unique solutions to client’s problems, able to create positive energy and motivation within groups and individuals and demonstrates tolerance of ambiguity
- Demonstrates time management skills as it pertains to writing clean and concise notes for data management purposes
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
